Brașov restaurants & cafes
Brașov is the Saxon heart of Transylvania: hearty mountain cooking, traditional Romanian dishes, and cosy spots around the medieval old town beneath Tâmpa. Vetted places in the centre and near Council Square.
Brașov’s dining centres on the medieval old town around Piața Sfatului (Council Square) and Strada Republicii, with terraces under the mountains. Expect hearty Transylvanian and Romanian cooking - grilled meats, stews, ciorbă - plus modern cafes and pizzerias. The central square is more touristy and pricier; a few streets out is calmer and often better value.
Below are our vetted places in Brașov. For the basics of Romanian and Transylvanian cuisine - sarmale, mici, ciorbă, local wine - see the guide to the cuisine; each venue shows the check date.
This section is being filled in: vetted places with honest descriptions and a check date will appear here soon.
